River’s Edge Yoga is dedicated to the teachings of Professor T. Krishnamacharya and his work as carried on by his son T.K.V. Desikachar. These teachings, that are based on the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali, have for generations been passed down from teacher to student.
Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya, 1888-1989 is considered one of the greatest yogis of modern time. Professor T. Krishnamacharya was somewhat revolutionary for his time because he firmly believed that yoga is universal, thus should be available to all people regardless of age, gender, culture, faith, abilities and interest. He was one of the few masters of modern time who understood the whole gamut of all the tools of yoga and their potential for health and healing. He dedicated his long life to yoga and his teachings have had great influence on its practice and understanding worldwide. |
